The Blueberry Pie Bombs Grandma Made

Many joyful summer days spent at my grandmother’s home as a youngster were filled with the pleasant smells of freshly made pies cooling on the windowsills. My favorite were always her blueberry pies; the luscious, juicy berries nestled in sweet, flaky crust were simply divine.

One hot July day, Grandma drew me into the kitchen and said, “I have a special summer treat for us today.”

She started by rolling out rounds of buttery biscuit dough and filling them with vivid purple pie filling. As she sealed them into lovely little balls, she brushed them with melted butter and sprinkled glittering sugar on top.

“What are these, Grandma??” I asked eagerly, licking my lips.

With a wink, she replied, “Why, they’re Blueberry Pie Bombs!” She placed the soft pastries into her brand-new air fryer and in just a few minutes, they emerged golden, crispy, and oozing delicious berry juice.

The first bite was an explosion of blueberry delight—the biscuits crisp and buttery, encasing warm, bubbling pie filling inside.

We devoured the whole batch, laughing until our stomachs hurt. Sweet, tangy, and delightfully messy.

Every summer thereafter, Grandma baked her Blueberry Pie Bombs for me, keeping her recipe on a worn, treasured card that always reminded me of those sunny days with her.

  • 1 can (8 count) Pillsbury Grands! Biscuits (not the flaky layers)
